Hi lovelies, I am back! Sorry for my extended break from blogging! I am here to share part 2 of my skincare routine with you.
What we consume generates chemical and hormonal reactions that can either work against us, or support us. As we know, our bodies lose millions of cells each day, and the food and drink we consume helps to form and regenerate our new cells.
Here is what I do and why:
Food
1. I eat meals that are made of natural and individual ingredients that contain vitamins and minerals. Examples are spinach, sweet potatoes, zucchini, and so on. Nothing with preservatives or pre-packaged food! If I get out of this habit for too long, my skin starts acting out.
2. I take advantage of fresh fruits, such as berries. They are loaded with antioxidants such as vitamin C, which helps neutralize free radicals and protect the cells.
3. I like to eat foods with good fats such as nuts, seeds, and avocados because they help regulate hormone function. Remember: moderation in all things. Eating 15 almonds is not the same thing as eating 25 almonds.
Drinking Water
Water is essential for all cellular processes of the body, assisting in the millions of cells that regenerate every day. Water helps eliminate toxins from vital organs. No wonder that one of benefits of drinking enough water is glowing skin! The amount of water a person needs to drink depends on their weight and their everyday physical activity level. A person like LeBron James would need more water than a woman that is 5’3’’ tall. There are different ways to calculate the amount of water a person needs. The way I like to calculate mine is to multiply my weight (in kilos) by 40 ml – this is for moderate to no activity. If I will be training/exercising for about 2 hours, I multiply my weight by 60 ml and will get the amount of water for the day.
Alkalizing the body
Alkalizing my body to have a balanced pH level of 7.4 is also a part of my everyday routine. We can create an imbalance of our pH level when we consume food and drink that have a more acidic effect on our body than alkaline. In addition to a balanced diet, I like to alkalize my body by starting my day with a green smoothie made of spinach, celery, pineapple, spirulina, acai powder, and wheat grass. Another smoothie I like is with the fruits and veggies I mentioned above and adding a green superfood called Amazing Grass. Not only does this give me a wonderful effect for my general health, but one effect I love the most is that my skin glows beautifully and it feels like I just got a professional facial done.
What do you do to have glowing skin during winter?
